This French Art Deco marquetry sideboard showcases a diamond patterned parquetry in European walnut burl by Michel Dufet (1888-1985). The cascading marquetry floral vines done in exotic woods with painted details decorate the front of the famous buffet. The marquetry design depicts Monnaies du Papes (Annual Honesty) florals, directly translated to “money of the Pope” as the florals resemble coins on branches. The high-gloss finish adorns the curved face and cabinet doors of the antique. Ribbed, tapered legs, keyed lock and the dark marble top complete this exquisite credenza. The interior cabinet has two drawers for silverware or napkins, and an adjustable shelf. Even the interior doors are fully finished in high-gloss, highlighting the exceptional wood grain. A charcoal grey marble top with light gold veining tops the sideboard.
